Hello and welcome to the new and improved IraTownship.org. We’ve designed the new site with you in mind, improving ease of communication, availability, and accessibility to the information you need.

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Robert ‘Bob’ McCoy Jr., U.S. Veteran and incumbent supervisor. I have been blessed to be residents of Ira Township for the last 69 years. Ira having been my home for so long, I am very committed to and passionate about my home town and its residents. I have had the honor of serving as your supervisor since I was elected to term in November of 2008. I was re-elected in 2012 and thanks to you I will continue to serve our beautiful community for another term.
Let me give you an inkling of what we do for you. A few main objectives are to maintain a balanced budget while continuing to improve the infrastructure of our township. I like to maintain an open door policy as I am eager to hear what you have to say and how we can make the good even better.

I‘ve been able to oversee the instillation of numerous cross culverts that help to improve our drainage. We have worked hard to improve ditching and road graveling as well. We have replaced 3 main bridges, Projects that were partially funded by Federal grant money and most recently we paved a 3 mile stretch of Short Cut Rd. I am pleased to announce that we were recently able to renew a millage for our hard working Fire Department, Thank you to all of our citizens. The Ira Fire Department has many community related functions including the display of our equipment at Immaculate Conceptions yearly festival. They also offer various safety programs and have the awesome privilege of visiting our local schools for fire safety month.

I am gratified in our choice of contracting the Clay Township Police Department. They have been a great asset, diligently patrolling our streets and answering our calls. Looking ahead we will diligently continue to better our community for our current and future resident making more services available. We hope you have time to enjoy the numerous programs offered by our various departments including the parks & recreation department, the fire department and our beautiful library have a lot to offer to both residents and visitors alike. We encourage you to peruse our site or stop in and see what community events we have coming up. It is a high priority for us to continue to maintain a solid foundation in our community.  Lastly, let me say thanks for being part of our wonderful community and always feel free to utilize our excellent staff whom are available Monday – Thursday from 7am to 5pm.
